Course Description:

This course provides students with an opportunity to explore the dynamic relationship between business and society. Through a series of specially-developed case studies, students will examine ethical issues such as: insider trading; accounting fraud; pollution; mergers and acquisitions; workplace discrimination; bribery; product liability; white-collar crime; growing the global economy in a sustainable way; and the ethical use of technology in business.


Learning objectives:

After completing this course students will be able to:

· Assess the impact of business on society.

· Identify ethical issues in business and apply an appropriate framework to analyse these issues.

· Take a principled approach that promotes trust, respect, fairness, responsibility as well as compliance with the law.

· Use information as a resource for ethical decision making.

· Understand the impact of human behaviour on ethical decision-making.

· Communicate effectively about ethically challenging business situations.

· Display leadership in business ethics through integrating ethical considerations into strategic thinking and daily practice.
